Why Sweep Your Chimney?

3. Blockage Removal

To specifically ensure there are no nests or blockages which could cause dangerous gas build-up or smoke issues.

4. Appliance Function Check

We check the function of your stove/fire, assess if any repairs are required, and identify any issues with draw.

Provides you with a certificate of sweeping, which many insurance companies require as proof.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have difficulty lighting your fire; if smoke comes back into your room; or if you notice an unusual smell from the fireplace/stove. If it’s been over a year since your last sweep and you have been enjoying fires then it is certainly time to book an appointment.

That depends upon how often you use your fire/stove and the type of fuel you are burning. Once a year should be sufficient for average use (2/3 days a week for a few hours each day). If you use the fire/stove on most days and/or for many hours in a day during the colder months, you may require a sweep at least twice a year.

On average it takes about 35-45 minutes to sweep thoroughly and efficiently.

Ideally the fire should not have been used for 24 hours as it should be cold enough to sweep without harming sweeping equipment. Any items on or near the fire/hearth should be removed if possible to allow clear access.

No. The opening will be sealed, and protective covers and an H-Class vacuum for hazardous waste will be used. All will be left dust free, clean and tidy.

The soot is left in a sealed bag which we ask you to put in your bin. This remains classed as ‘domestic waste’ and avoids the additional cost of disposing of ‘commercial waste’.

We carry out a thorough, careful manual sweep with traditional high quality brushes and flexible and rigid rods as appropriate to your chimney/flue.
